Hands-on Training in Bioplastics Research and Development
Artem Sulimov became interested in materials science as a teenager, once he realized it combined chemistry, physics, and engineering—his favorite subjects. Now he is a PhD student in chemistry mentored by Dr. Locklin, from whom he is learning a variety of skills that transcend the laboratory. Sulimov appreciates learning materials science in a nimble and adaptable environment focused on developing sustainable materials for industry.
Adaeze Osakwe is pursuing a PhD in chemistry. She utilizes sustainable methods in developing drug formulations and packaging for pharmaceutical manufacturing. Osakwe has formulated biopolymers for improved impact strength, designed multiple layer packaging for pharmaceutical products, and formulated oral solid dosage forms.
Imrie Ross never worked in a laboratory before she began working at the UGA New Materials Institute as an undergraduate. Her experiences with the UGA NMI and the Locklin Group changed her life and helped establish her career goals.
Caitlin Cato Wood shares her experiences as a PhD student training in the Locklin Group. Caitlin graduated from her program in 2023.
